The Ansel team worked with a Tennessee-based employer to offer a new supplemental health plan to their employees.

The Challenge

A Tennessee-based healthcare employer was looking to enhance its employee benefits strategy. While they had consistently offered traditional voluntary benefits alongside core health insurance plans, they recognized that repeating the same offerings year after year might no longer resonate with employees. They wanted to provide something better—something their employees would truly value and use. The goal was to introduce a solution that delivered broader coverage and more financial protection than previous offerings.

The Solution

The employer first learned about Ansel during conversations with their broker and was immediately intrigued. Ansel’s supplemental health insurance stood out for its wide-ranging coverage—over 13,000 illnesses and injuries—with no hospitalization requirements or exclusions for pre-existing conditions. Even more compelling was the medical claims integration, which enabled claims data to flow directly from the third-party administrator to Ansel, so employees receive benefits automatically without the need to file a claim. Recognizing the value, the employer chose to contribute $5 per employee per month toward the premium.

In the end, Ansel replaced the existing traditional offerings, and a detailed enrollment plan was rolled out, resulting in 16.6% employee participation.

Keys to the Win

“This employer was ready for a change—offering the same benefits repeatedly was no longer making an impact. Ansel stood out with its simplicity, medical claims integration, and real impact for employees. It was exactly the kind of fresh solution they were looking for."  —Jason Clemons, Regional Sales Director, Ansel

Claims integration model makes employees lives easier

Even though we made it easy for members to file claims, we know that sometimes, when dealing with a health issue, filing a claim or worrying about receiving a benefit can be stressful. That’s why we can use medical claims data to determine whether members are eligible for Ansel benefits, and pay claims automatically so members can focus on their recovery.

Wide-ranging coverage that fills in the gaps

Injuries and illnesses come in all shapes and sizes. Ansel is a plan that is built to be used. With over 13,000+ covered conditions across a wide spectrum (Moderate, Severe, and Catastrophic), employees have more reasons to file a claim, whether it’s for a cut with stitches or cancer.

Allowing the employer to fund a portion of the premium

With Ansel, employers can partially fund the premium to offer employees a meaningful benefit for a lower cost.
